I was a writer on We Lost Our Human, Netflix’s wildly ambitious interactive animated special about two pets who wake up to find every human on Earth has vanished. Before the MCU even started playing with multiverses, we were already deep in our own, breaking tangly storylines across walls of Post-its and yarn in a tiny writer’s room on Sunset Boulevard.
The freedom and trust Chris Garbutt and Rikke Asbjoern gave me in bringing every wacky idea I had to the table was incredible. I didn’t just serve as a writer; I was a partner, a voice, a voice actor, a songwriter, truly a PART of WLOH. So many times I made a joke, not as a pitch, just to get a chuckle out of them, and they said “Yep. That’s going in.” I’m forever grateful.
Sadly, Netflix pulled support for the bulk of their interactive programming from the platform and WLOH can no longer be experienced. It's a heartbreaking loss for me and the entire crew, but I'm touched to discover that fans continue to upload and archive the raw footage, as well as their favorite clips, on YouTube!
